mud-rock flow in the world. Dongchuan was ever a place with glorious history. After this glorious history grows dark, the inheritances left for Dongchuan are the extreme poverty and 28 times mud-rock flow in a year. The vehicle drives along the winding road at the hillside which was destroyed by mud-rock flow, and the dry mud seems like a boundless riverbed under our feet. Occasionally, a few pieces of farmland appear in this huge sea of gray mud, which make us feel that sometimes the existence of hope is really a cruel thing. Out from the center of Dongchuan area, passing through a large arsenic mine, tan smoke spews from the chimneys standing in the factory nearby the mine. It is reported that farmers here can get a compensation from government each year according to the quantities of the fowls that are rasied by them. Everyone knows that aesenic is highly toxic, and everyone dare not to eat the domestic animals of their own. However, there is no sign of stopping for the smoking chimney. The laterite soil in Dongchuan is as famous as its mud-rock flow all over the world. In the annual season of harvest, when farmers cut off the crops and plow up the deep red soil, photographers from around the world will be gathered here with their equipment worth more than a million dollars in order to take photographs. The red land in Dongchuan is like the ultimate of colors, which becomes the final destination of any other colors in the world. In the rainy season, there will be more crazy photographers waiting at Dongchuan just for the sake of taking pictures of the debris flow which may occur at any time. It is the most brutal natural landscape in the world. During 2000 years, the various legends about it, being like a foreordination, seem to make people see the fate belonging to the whole human being from this district of Kunming.
